More info:
Each year all the choirs in FBISD come together to perform selections from Handel's Messiah. This performance will take place on Nov 29th at Austin HS. Any choir student, even if it is your first year, is eligible to perform in the concert. We have between 250-350 choir students with a full orchestra on stage for the production. It is an amazing experience for all choir students and I highly recommend that each choir student take part in the performance, especially since it is held right here at AHS. Each student will also receive 3 award points towards their lettermen jacket.
There are 5 choir numbers that are performed. They are: And The Glory of the Lord, O Thou That Tellest Good Tidings To Zion, For Unto Us A Child Is Born, Glory To God, and the Hallelujah Chorus!
I will help student learn the music and prepare them for the concert. There are additional rehearsals that are mandatory for each participant to attend. Please see the attached contract. If you are interested in participating, please double check your availability to attend each rehearsal, fill out the contract and return to Mr. F by the deadline.
If you have any questions, please let me know. Although this performance is not required, I'm hoping to have the majority of the choir participate in this awesome production!

Congrats to all who participated! 19 ladies are advancing to REGION! Here are the results:
Explanation of some placement details: The top 60 ladies were selected from each of the 4 voice groups (Sop 1, Sop 2, Alto 1, Alto 2) to advance. This means that 240 ladies advanced all together. So, depending on how many judging rooms there were for each voice determined how many students were selected from each room. For example, there were 3 rooms of Soprano 2... so the top 20 from each room advanced. For Soprano 1, there was only 2 rooms... so the top 30 in each room advanced. Here is how the breakdown was on Saturday:
Soprano 1 - 2 Rooms - top 30 from each room advanced
Soprano 2 - 3 Rooms - top 20 from each room advanced
Alto 1 - 2 Rooms - top 30 from each room advanced
Alto 2 - 1 Room - top 60 from that room advanced
Soprano 1 - 2 Rooms - top 30 from each room advanced
Soprano 2 - 3 Rooms - top 20 from each room advanced
Alto 1 - 2 Rooms - top 30 from each room advanced
Alto 2 - 1 Room - top 60 from that room advanced
